Playing for the team rather than just yourself can be hard to pull off when you are playing with a group of people you will most likely never meet or encounter again. But to win a game, you will have put aside your selfishness sometimes and use your killstreaks and intelligence to pull off a win.

Using KillStreaks To The Advantage Of Your Team

When selecting your killsteak rewards before every game, you should be thinking about what would benefit your team in different scenarios. For example, in Headquarters a predator missile won't be as useful as a sentry gun to help protect your base.

KillSteak Combinations

Set #1:
UAV-Counter UAV-Emergency Airdrop

This series of killstreaks is designed to benefit the whole team rather than just yourself. You are forgoing the deadly killstreaks such as Harrier and Pave Low in order to get more reliable team based call ins. UAVs are a very powerful tool, particularly given that most players tend to take Stopping Power over Cold Blooded, as they give vital intel to your whole team as to where the enemy are located. Counter-UAVs again don't have a massive benefit towards you specifically, however knocking out the enemy's radar for 30 seconds is always a large help to your whole team, letting them run rampant among the disorganized enemy. Finally Emergency Airdrop. This has a small luck component, but its benefits outweigh its flaws in this case. Often people don't take this for the fear of their kill streaks being stolen, often by teammates, but remember, as long as the enemy doesn't get them they are still benefiting the team. This particular loadout is best suited to Team Deathmatch as the fast nature of the game will give the best use of these killstreaks.

Set #2:
Care Package-Sentry Gun-Harrier Strike

This combination is built for team modes like Headquarters that require a more campy style of game-play, rather than just running around taking out enemies in Team Deathmatch. Care Packages can give you precision airstrikes and many tactical kill steaks that will help your team. The Sentry gun and Harrier Strike rewards act as guardians in modes like Headquarters. Harrier, if utlilised properly can sit above the area you are guarding, pushing back any enemies that come close, and if they happen to break through the sentry gun should be aimed at a door to eliminate enemies.

Set #3:

Harrier-Chopper Gunner-Nuke

This killsteak combo is based on more kills making it harder for inexperienced players. But for those who reach these killsteaks reguarly it is most useful in headquarters and maps open to the elements, rather than those with enclosed buildings. The Harrier Strike and Chopper Gunner are excellent guardians of headquarters and bombsites allowing you to easily pick off any protruding enemies and a quick and easy path to the game finishing reward, the nuke. Beware, the tactical nuke will take many failed attempts to reach as there will always be a sneaky player who comes from behind and shoots you. This is not as much of a team combination compared to the others, but can be helpful if you have an experienced team member on your side.

Set #4:

Predator Missile-Emergency Airdrop-Chopper Gunner

This combination of killstreak rewards is basically a solid group of kill machines, with a high risk/high reward toss up with the Emergency Airdrop. The Predator Missile is your first step in extending your streak. What is good about the Predator missile is you can directly control where your destruction lands, as well as get a quick scout on where the enemy is. If you see a large group, you will of course want to boost the rocket in their area, but at the same time, pay close notice to where some of the stragglers are at. These can easily turn into free kills for you. Emergency Airdrop often rewards you with at least one higher level streak (Helicopter, Pave Low, etc.) and a couple lower level streak (Predator, Harrier, etc.). The reward for this is only being an 8-killstreak, for multiple streaks at one time, it basically pays for itself. Lastly, the Chopper Gunner (which may be substituted for the AC-130) is the final nail in the coffin. You can pin the enemy down with the powerful 30mm cannon on the Chopper, and can rack up a huge ammout of kills.
