Map Name: Castle
Setting: The Japanese Imperial Army fights to keep back Marine Raiders during this daytime siege of a Japanese castle.
Suggested Primary Weapon: MP40
Despite the number of wide-open areas, the Castle actually caters to mid-to-close range combat. The first control point--the dojo--is consistently the busiest portion of the map, but it's for good reason. Above the dojo, there's a second story that provides some of the most varied and valuable sight lines available, and it's a key location to hold if you're looking to win. Capturing the dojo itself takes a lot of persistence, but the best way to stave off oncoming forces is to push them outside of the building with any kind of grenades. We've found Taburn Gas to be particularly effective if thrown at the entry points of the building--disorienting incoming enemies and weakening their health supplies.
For any players that try to stick to the top of the Dojo, try to plant some Bouncing Betties around the many available corners so that you've got your back covered while popping enemies from your elevated location.
Players for both armies should almost always drop their artillery strikes on the Dojo. It's an easy way to snag the last two kills you need to earn the Dog Attack.
Each force on this map has a strategy that works best, so here are a couple additional tips.
Imperial Japanese Army:
Always send a couple guys to flank around the other side of the castle (away from the Dojo) and pick of the US forces while the run into the building. The Imperials can make their way around the structure much faster than the Marines thanks to a quick jump into the moat.
If you make it into the Dojo, head all the way to the opposite side of that room to snag some easy kills on the unsuspecting Marines headed into the Building.
Marine Raiders:
If you like to snipe, there's an excellent sniping tower on the opposite side of the map from the Dojo. The Japanese forces typically consider that tower on their side, and it's an easy target to make a wide flank along the south side of the map to. Best of all, it's got a crack-shot view of the top of the Dojo. Easy pickins.
The Marines have a beneficial set of stairs that they can use to reach the top of the Dojo quickly. Take advantage and make sure that you have someone posted to keep the Japanese forces from climbing the ladder up into the elevated room.
